Ingredients

  •         Sugar - 1.5 cups (350 grams)
  •         Gulab Jamun Ready-mix - 1 cup
  •         Pistachios (finely chopped) - 10 to 12
  •         Cardamom powder - ½ tsp
  •         Saffron strands - 15 to 20
  •         Ghee - for frying

Instructions

  1.       - Take 1.5 cups of sugar in a vessel and add 1.5 cups of water to it.
  2.       - Stir and cook until sugar dissolves in the water.
  3.       - Take a cup of Gulab Jamun ready-mix in a bowl, add a ¾ cup of water to it and dissolve its lumps.
  4.       - The batter should be of the pouring consistency.
  5.       - Add 15 to 20 saffron strands in the sugar syrup.
  6.       - Add a ½ teaspoon of cardamom powder to it.
  7.       - Boil the sugar syrup for 3 to 4 minutes.
  8.       - After boiling it, remove it from the flame and keep it aside to cool down.
  9.       - Preheat a flat pan and add some clarified butter in it.
  10.    - Add a serving spoon of batter in the hot oil.
  11.    - Fry until it becomes brown from both sides.
  12.    - Drain it out using a ladle and keep aside to cool down.
  13.    - Fry all the Poori likewise.
  14.    - 10 to 12 Malai poori can be made from the prepared quantity of batter.
  15.    - The sugar syrup has become lukewarm.
  16.    - Dip 4 to 5 Poori in the sugar syrup for 4 minutes.
  17.    - Drain it out after 4 minutes and place it on a plate.
  18.    - Garnish with some chopped pistachios and sugar syrup.
  19.    - The Malai Poori is ready to be served.
